StreetCatWiki's Guidelines

StreetCatWiki is meant to be a lighthearted environment, providing a place to learn more about the cats in more popular feeders and about the App of Hello Street Cat itself. These guidelines and rules are here to keep the peace and have this site stay civil and fun.

When Making a New Page for a Cat

When the community discovers a possible new cat, please check the other already identified cats in List of Cats and compare the new cat with the others. If the cat appears to be actually new, please take a screenshot of the cat's back and face, and then the community can agree upon a name. If you are having problems adding a cat or don't understand how to, consider joining the Wiki's Discord server to submit the cat spotted together with its back and front picture.

IF YOU ARE DOCUMENTING A NOT WELL KNOWN FEEDER, PLAN TO MAKE THE PAGES YOURSELF. WE DO NOT KNOW THE CATS YOU HAVE DISCOVERED. THE COMMUNITY CAN HELP REFINE THE PAGE BUT ULTIMATELY IT IS UP TO YOU TO PROVIDE THE INFORMATION.

Rules

  • Before making a page, make sure that it's a new cat, check the List Of Cats and the Cats by Color pages. If you are still unsure, ask around in the official Discord server.
  • A page is required to have a Cat Info Box, a facial picture, a back picture and basic information. Avoid making pages for cats that have only appeared once or have only peeked in the feeder.
  • The name can NOT be of something offensive, derogatory, or could cause controversy. The name will be changed to another name by the community if this happens. Use common sense.
  • If something bad happened to the cat, add the template Template:Warning1 at the beginning of the page and list what bad things happened (e.g. mistreatment). Do NOT add graphic information to the article, only include a watered-down summary.
  • Photos of injured cats aren't allowed on the wiki, text is fine. Depictions or drawings that are not graphic may be added. Stray cats get hurt in the wild naturally or from humans and it is a reality but we are trying to keep the wiki somewhat SFW.

Recommended

  • Have the time be in UTC+8 or China Standard Time (CST), this is the time of most feeders, and appears on meow.camera in the bottom left. Use the time format day/month/year or month day, year. (e.g. 26/04/2024, April 26th, 2024).
  • Please check your page for spelling mistakes and grammar. As much as this is a fun fan-made encyclopedia about cats, we do want to have our articles look decent.
  • If the cat is from the Canteen (also known as Mr. Fresh's Feeder), please put the cat into Unlisted Cats in List of Cats. This means the cat isn't well recognized in the community, if the cat visits a few more times afterwards, it will be moved up into The Happy Canteen Feeder Cats.
  • Check out the Page Template if you have have trouble creating a page or want to know what is required.

Images

Rules

  • If you are uploading an image of a feeder, censor any QR codes on the feeder.
  • Do not upload images of the guardian's faces, you can censor the faces however. This is to protect the guardian's privacy.
  • Do not upload NSFW or NSFL images, this includes injured cats. Censoring the injury isn't okay either, the injury must not be seeable (at all) if you upload an image of the cat.

Rarities

Every cat has a certain rarity, and it is determined by how often they visit the feeder.

Raritiy How often the cat appears
Common More than once a day
Uncommon Once a day
Rare 1-4 times a week
Legendary Less than once a week
Unseeable Doesn't visit the feeder anymore
Unknown Hasn't appeared enough to determine
