Gareth is the new Knightling at A Litter of Cats Who Love Each Other. Like its older siblings, Dan and Lance, it is named after a Knight of the Round Table; its namesake, Gareth, is a knight as well as King Arthur's nephew in Arthurian legend. It seems to be the only kitten from Dame Knight's second known litter. It was first sighted by the global community on December 16, 2024.

Behavior

Like any kitten, Gareth, early on, ran off startled at the sound of falling food. It was soon seen, though, that Gareth is far from a scaredy cat. It was able to stand up for itself against Torbie Mama for a long time, even after its older brother ran off. It also hissed at George, who pissed on it. In addition, it is a resilient kitten; after a confrontation with another cat, it soon resumes eating without seeming phased at all. Gareth gets along with its big brother, Dan, and the two have been seen together several times.

At the feeder, it happily eats both kibble and chicken snacks, although it may not be old enough to have developed a preference yet.

Appearance

Gareth is an Orange Tabby, like its older brother. Its face and body is mostly orange, resembling Bill when he was a baby. Gareth, however, has a small stripe of white going down the left side of its nose. The striping on its back looks similar to that of its big brother, Dan. Its paws are white.

Sightings

December 2024

  • December 16, 2024:
    • At 5:46 PM (LFT), Gareth was spotted for the first time, eating from the bowl alongside its mother, Dame Knight. After a few minutes, Dame Knight laid down outside the feeder, letting Gareth have the bowl to itself. It climbed inside the bowl to finish eating what was left inside. It then played around the feeder for a few minutes while its mother resumed eating, then joined her again. Shortly after Dame Knight left a second time, chicken snacks were dropped; Gareth was brave and, even though it was startled, stayed sitting in front of the feeder. After regaining its composure, it ate the chicken snacks.
    • At 6:34 PM (LFT), Gareth returned to the feeder, this time by itself. It ate some chicken snacks before leaving a minute later.
  • December 17, 2024:
    • At 1:33 PM (LFT), Gareth was seen eating from the bowl while its big brother, Dan, sat beside it, and their mother sat outside the feeder. When it was finished eating, it played around with its brother while their mother ate, then returned as their mother left. At 1:44, Torbie Mother showed up to the feeder and began hissing and growling at Dan and Gareth. Gareth assumed a fierce, aggressive pose, and the siblings hissed and growled back at Torbie Mother. A few minutes later, Dan fled, leaving Gareth to face Torbie Mother alone. Gareth hissed back and forth with Torbie Mama for several minutes, as she slowly inched it out of the feeder. Even once it was forced out, and was laying on the ground between the feeder and the tarp, it continued to hiss at Torbie Mama until she lunged at him, after which it finally left. It wasn't scared away for good though; after Torbie Mama left, and Dan visited the feeder for a minute, Gareth emerged from the crack in the ground and resumed eating like nothing much happened at all.
Unfortunately, Gareth's problems weren't over yet. At 2:00, George appeared at the feeder. Gareth hissed at George, and in return, George pissed on it. George stood there for a few more seconds, then walked away. Gareth resumed eating, and a minute later, its mother reappeared. Gareth stared off into space, contemplating the recent events, then, finally able to relax, hung out with its mother while she ate.
  • December 26, 2024: At 7:37 AM (LFT), Gareth was seen eating from the feeder while its mother sat outside. Once it ate everything inside, it began licking the bottom of the bowl and sniffing up into the dispenser. Soon after, kibble was dropped, which it ate all of. It went back to sniffing up into the dispenser until more kibble and snacks were dropped. It happily ate until 6:49, when something outside startled it; it jumped away from the bowl and hissed. A minute later, it left the feeder, and its mother, who was relaxing calmly the whole time, entered the feeder to eat Gareth's leftovers.
