Bean is a now fostered orphan kitten that appeared on the Xiayu’s Loving Stray Cat House feeder. He was named for looking like a bean due to his comically small size (he would eventually grow to around 4/6 sauces long before his retrieval). During his entire documented stay on the feeder he was kept in containers to prevent him escaping.

While Bean is an orphan, it is believed one of the cats that frequented the feeder is his mother, as her belly had a weird shape. Her being the biological mother would also make sense as she was not a fully grown cat. Another reason Bean got abandoned could be due to hunger, as during the mother candidate’s sightings she was seen to eat a ton - suggesting she had to abandon him in order to try save herself.

Behavior

Not much is known about Bean apart from his will to try to escape. He would sometimes try to call for the Caretaker or his mother.

Appearance

Bean is instantly recognizable due to being in a crate/transparent box. Outside of physical objects his size and brown tabby coat serve as a way to recognise him.

June 2024

June 13, 2024: A message about him was made in the DeMiaowa discord server, the commenter saying they have been seeing him for days. Later on, it seemed the Caretaker took Bean but then returned him back (likely for feeding or a check-up).
June 14, 2024:
- While Bean was relaxing at the feeder, the lore expanded with the introduction to the candidate for his mother. An orange cat would pee on the feeder, likely to assert dominance. The mother candidate got scared by an evil orange cat nicknamed “Evil Orange”.
- The mother candidate would later return, then run off due to unspecified circumstances. Evil Orange was also later seen.
- The mother candidate returned again, only to run off. Shortly after, Bean got snatched by the Caretaker, and a few posts later, the entire crate was gone.
June 15, 2024: The crate returned with a small box inside as a type of shelter.
June 16, 2024: The crate during the day got replaced by a transparent box. This was also when snails started appearing.
June 17, 2024: Bean tried to escape multiple times throughout the day.
June 18, 2024: During the day, Bean attempted to escape again.
June 19, 2024: The lid was fully closed, likely due to a cat. People worried if Bean could breathe inside his box.
June 20, 2024:
- A new cat showed up at the feeder, with a coat similar to that of Bean and the mother candidate. The cat also had a leaking nose. The new cat would look around a bit at Bean’s box and not much else.
- Some people complained about the fact that Bean was still in the box, as the mother candidate seemed to have no interest in taking care of him again. Other cats were also seen hissing at him.
- Someone said that “Bean returned”, likely due to him being taken before for feeding/check-ups.
June 23, 2024: Bean managed to rotate the box he was in, showing off his intense strength. He would also startle Evil Orange a bit.
June 25, 2024: Bean’s disappearance was first mentioned.
June 30, 2024: A post would be in the app, likely by the Caretaker. It seemed he was fostered by multiple Caretakers taking turns in taking care of him.
