Lance is a cat at A Litter of Cats Who Love Each Other. She is one of Dame Knight's two kittens from her first litter. Like her littermate, Dan and younger sibling, Gareth, she is named after a Knight of the Round Table. Lance was named after Lancelot, a knight as well as King Arthur's close companion and one of the greatest Knights in Arthurian legend. She was first sighted by the global community on June 23, 2024.

Behavior

Lance shares the feistiness of her mother. When the bowl is empty, she will sometimes reach her paw up and dig in the dispenser, looking for food. She is not afraid to hiss and swat at people who approach the feeder when she's eating. She is especially hissy toward Serif. As a kitten, she meowed a lot, to the eventual annoyance of her mother. Lance does have a nicer side, though; she tolerates her brother, Dan, even though he is very stupid. Lance enjoys eating both snacks and kibble.

Appearance

Lance looks somewhat similar to Brutus. One big difference between them is their noses; Brutus has a fat, dark stripe running down her nose, while Lance has a thin, faint dark line running down hers. In addition, as Lance grew, her back pattern developed more light coloring than Brutus's. Her stripes are very spotty, especially toward her lower back; she shares this characteristic with both of her siblings.

Sightings

June 2024

June 23, 2024: At 05:30 AM (LFT), Lance was spotted for the first time. She was exploring just outside the feeder while the rest of her family stayed inside. A few minutes later, the rest of her family left, and she sat alone in the feeder, looking at the food. All of a sudden, George appeared at the feeder and looked at Lance. Lance was frightened by George; she put her paws up on the ledge of the bowl, hissed at him once then ran away.

July 2024

July 11, 2024: At 6:50 PM (LFT), Lance ran into the feeder, where her mother was laying, and looked inside the empty bowl. Lance then energetically dug into the kibble dispenser, trying to get food out, then ran over to the rack next to the feeder and climbed down into it. After reemerging from the crack, Lance came back into the feeder, meowing constantly for food until her mother chastised her by gently biting her neck and pulling her away.
July 14, 2024: At 2:05 AM (LFT), Lance was seen exploring outside the feeder while her mother laid in front of the bowl. She then entered the feeder and sat behind her mother and Dan, who had just entered. Kibble was soon dropped, scaring Dan out of the feeder; with Dan out of the way, Lance approached the bowl. She then laid down behind her mother as she ate. Dan soon joined Lance, and they both peeked over their mother's back to look at the bowl.
July 15, 2024: At 10:01 PM (LFT), Lance was seen with her mother at the feeder. Lance stuck her head in the bowl while her mother ate. Dame Knight soon stopped eating and watched outside; Lance continued eating. Soon after, Dan showed up and joined Lance in eating kibble. Lance left at 10:06, leaving Dan, who left a couple minutes later, behind.
July 20, 2024: Around 1:55 AM (LFT), Lance was seen standing next to her mother, who was eating the last few pieces of kibble in the bowl. Lance let out a big yawn.

August 2024

August 28, 2024: At 6:29 PM (LFT), Lance was seen standing in front of the bowl, looking at a decent-sized pile of kibble. She soon began eating.
August 30, 2024: At 1:17 AM (LFT), Lance was seen eating kibble. When she was finished, she laid down on the orange rug which, at that point, was mostly outside of the feeder.

September 2024

September 2, 2024: At 5:15 PM (LFT), Lance was seen sitting toward the back of the feeder, looking at the bowl. A minute later, she laid down in front of the bowl, with her arms stretched out in front of her. She left when Bob Jr. came for a visit, and returned as soon as he left to clean the last of the kibble out of the bowl. She then laid back down in front of the bowl, facing the outside of the feeder. A few minutes later, chicken snacks were soon dropped for her, and she happily gobbled them up. Kibble was dropped for her a minute after that, which she also ate.
September 9, 2024: At 9:04 PM (LFT), Lance was seen eating while Mack laid outside. After she finished, she sat over the crack just outside the feeder, and did not stop Mack when he entered the feeder to eat.
September 14, 2024: Around 5:50 AM (LFT), Lance was seen at the feeder while Serif laid outside. Lance was very disturbed by Serif's presence and began hissing at him; Serif hissed at her in return. They made noises at each other for a few minutes before Lance ran away.
September 17, 2024: At 1:53 AM (LFT), Lance was seen getting ready to leave the feeder, but she soon sat back down. A minute later, she got up and began eating, but left soon after as Bill approached.
September 18, 2024: At 11:06 PM (LFT), Lance was seen looking inside the almost-empty bowl. Snacks were soon dropped for her, which she ate while making a variety of funny faces.
September 23, 2024: At 9:05 PM (LFT), Lance was seen standing behind Brutus, watching her as she ate. When Brutus left, Lance began eating. Chicken snacks were soon dropped for Lance, which she ate while Brutus watched from the shadows. After eating the kibble that was dropped for her, Lance left the feeder.
September 25, 2024: At 11:04 PM (LFT), Lance was seen looking inside the bowl, which contained the cricket Bill placed inside earlier. Kibble was dropped, and Lance ate while Dan showed up and sat outside, watching.
