Brutus is an older kitten that appears at A Litter of Cats Who Love Each Other. She is one of Bob's children. She and her brothers, Bill and Bob Jr., are collectively called the Boblets. She is Bob's only daughter, as well as Bob's only Tabby Tortie kitten. Her name was chosen because it's a cool-sounding name that fits with the B names of the rest of her family. She and her siblings were first sighted on May 31, 2024.
Behavior
Since Brutus was little, she's been the most independent and brave of her siblings. She almost immediately got used to the food dropping from the feeder, and was able to stay and eat while her brothers ran scared from the feeder. She also showed up to the feeder alone most often as a baby. She enjoys eating but is not a dominant personality at the feeder. Especially when she was little, she'd sit and watch her brothers eat before she ate herself, and if her brothers came while she was eating, she'd let them squeeze in. As a kitten, she seemed to be the closest kitten to her mother, as she could be seen snuggling up against her and sleeping on her quite a bit.
As she got older, she stopped showing up to the feeder as often as her siblings; however, she can still be seen pretty often. She still shows up alone often, although she gets along with both of her siblings, especially Bob Jr. She's developed an aggressive side as she's grown, as she now occasionally hisses and swats at cats who come to close or are eating when she wants to eat.
Appearance
Brutus is a Tortoiseshell Tabby cat. When she was little, she looked almost entirely brown, but as she grew, her orange spots could be seen more clearly. She also looked extremely scruffy as a baby, but her fur has looked much neater as she's grown. Her orange and brown fur blends nicely on her back, with her upper back being slightly more orange, and her lower back being slightly more brown. Her sides are mostly brown, with flecks of bright orange throughout. Her tabby stripes are very faint on her back, but they can be seen more clearly on her sides, and especially her legs. Her tail is dark brown.
Brutus does not look as Bob-esque as her siblings. (It probably helps that she's not orange.) However, Bob's genes can still sometimes be seen in her, especially when she's pouting. She looks quite a bit like Lance, Dame Knight's Brown Tabby. As they've grown, it's become much easier to tell them apart. Most noticeably, Brutus's back has more of a Tortoiseshell coloring, while Lance's back is very light with bold, dark spots. Also, Brutus has a wide, dark stripe running down her nose, while Lance has a very narrow stripe.
Sightings
May 2024
- May 31, 2024: Around 8:45 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen for the first time. She was standing inside the feeder. She was the last Boblet to show up on camera during the Boblets' first sighting.
June 2024
- June 1, 2024:
- Around 12:50 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen inside the feeder with her mother and Bob Jr. She ate and hung out with her family. Around 1:20, snacks were dropped while she was eating; she dramatically leaped back from the bowl, but did not run out of the feeder like her brothers did.
- Around 7:50 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen standing inside the feeder while her mother was eating. Her mother soon left to let her eat, and her siblings showed up as well. Around 7:55, snacks were dropped; her brothers ran out, but Brutus again bravely stayed inside the feeder, staring at the bowl for a couple of seconds before beginning to eat again.
- June 24, 2024: Around 12:50 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen in the feeder alone with her mother. Brutus walked over to the back of the feeder, rested her head on her mother's lower back, and fell asleep.
- June 26, 2024: Around 8:00 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen in the feeder alone, eating kibble.
- June 30, 2024: Around 7:20 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen eating kibble while her mother sat behind her and Bob Jr. hung out outside. When Brutus finished eating, she laid down next to her mommy and they hung out together.
July 2024
- July 1, 2024: Around 9:50 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen sitting in the back of the feeder while Bob and Bill sat in front of the bowl. When food was dropped, Bill and the newly arrived Bob Jr. began eating while Brutus watched them. Around 10:30, Brutus climbed into the bowl and began eating while the rest of her family practiced jumping onto the roof of the feeder outside.
- July 2, 2024:
- Around 7:55 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging out in the feeder with her siblings.
- Around 1:45 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen sitting in the feeder while her mother and Bob Jr. ate. When her mother was finished eating, she began to eat next to Bob Jr. After her family left, she climbed into the bowl and hung out for a minute before leaving. Around 2:35, Brutus returned to the feeder alone and looked at the food before leaving again.
- Around 7:15 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging out with her siblings and George. George entered the feeder and began eating, and she watched on curiously along with her siblings.
- July 3, 2024: Around 2:35 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen at the feeder alone, eating kibble.
- July 4, 2024:
- Around 2:00 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging out in the feeder while her mother ate.
- Around 7:35 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen in the feeder alone, sitting in the bowl. Around 7:55, her mother and Bill entered the feeder and hung out with her.
- July 5, 2024: Around 8:45 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging out with her family in the feeder. She eventually ate some kibble while her mother watched.
- July 7, 2024:
- Around 12:20 AM (LFT), Brutus and her siblings were seen nursing from their mother just outside the feeder.
- Around 1:55 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging around the feeder. At one point, she entered and stared into the back camera.
- July 9, 2024:
- Around 11:40 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen rushing into the feeder to join her mother when she heard kibble being dropped. Bob gently slowed her down, then they began eating together.
- Around 7:15 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging out in the feeder with her siblings. She soon left the other two in the feeder.
- July 10, 2024: Around 10:10 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen eating from the feeder alongside Bob Jr. The rest of their family soon joined them in the feeder. After they were finished eating, the other two Boblets left, leaving Brutus and her mother alone. Brutus laid down next to her mother and snuggled up against her while she ate.
- July 15, 2024: Around 7:45 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging out at the feeder with her family. She did not partake in eating when food was dropped, although she did come back a little while later to sniff the now-empty bowl.
- July 16, 2024:
- Around 3:05 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging around the empty bowl with her family. Brutus waited in front of the bowl for food, even sticking her hands in the dispenser to try and get food out. When kibble was dropped, her brothers rushed in to eat alongside her.
- Around 7:00 PM (LFT), Brutus and Bill were seen waiting for food. When kibble was dropped, they both began eating. Bob Jr. also rushed in and squeezed Brutus out of the bowl from the other side, but she was able to work her way back in a few seconds later.
- July 18, 2024: Around 4:00 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen waiting alone in front of the empty bowl. She again dug her hands into the dispenser, trying to get food out. Eventually, kibble was dropped, and she began eating.
- July 20, 2024: Around 6:40 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen laying in the feeder alone. She went in and out of the feeder a couple of times before laying down right outside. When kibble was dropped into the empty bowl, she ran back in and began eating.
- July 26, 2024: Around 5:20 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging out in the feeder while her brothers ate. Her brothers had licked the bowl clean, and when they left, she was left with a completely empty bowl. Luckily, soon after, snacks were dropped, which she was able to enjoy all by herself.
- July 31, 2024: Around 7:05 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl, alone. She began digging under the bowl to try and get stray kibbles out. Eventually, food was dropped for her, and she began to eat from the bowl. She made a very funny startled face when the food was dropped.
August 2024
- August 5, 2024: Around 10:10 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen eating kibble while Bob Jr. stood behind her with his front paws on top of the bowl's lid, looking like a kangaroo.
- August 15, 2024: Around 11:45 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen at the feeder. Despite the fact there was lots of kibble in the bowl, Brutus was eating stray pieces of kibble off the floor.
- August 16, 2024: Around 7:25 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen eating snacks from the bowl.
- August 29, 2024: Around 11:50 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen eating from the feeder while Bill hung out outside.
September 2024
- September 3, 2024:
- Around 4:20 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen sitting outside the feeder, watching Lance eat. After a minute, Brutus got closer, and Lance swatted at him; they then swatted at each other for a few more seconds before Brutus sat back down outside the feeder.
- Around 6:40 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen laying inside the feeder while Bob Jr. laid right outside. When food was dropped, they both began eating.
- September 11, 2024: Around 7:20 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen alongside Bob Jr., watching Bill eat. Dan soon showed up and watched along with them. When Dan got closer to Bill, Brutus swatted at him, but did not take any further action. When Bill left, Dan entered the feeder and began eating; Brutus watched him and sniffed him curiously while he ate. After Dan left, Bob Jr. began eating, and Brutus watched him from the back of the feeder. When Bob Jr. looked back at her, she gently bonked him on the head. When Bob Jr. left, she began eating, and soon after she started eating, she got snacked.
- September 12, 2024: Around 6:20 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen laying just outside the feeder while Bob Jr. ate inside.
- September 14, 2024: Around 12:05 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen hanging out with Bob Jr. in the feeder. She then sat outside the feeder while Bob Jr. ate. When Bob Jr. left, she reentered the feeder and began eating.
- September 19, 2024: Around 2:30 AM (LFT), Brutus was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl.
- September 21, 2024: Around 6:45 PM (LFT), Brutus entered the feeder while Bob Jr. was eating. Brutus loudly hissed at Bob Jr., and he slowly backed away from the bowl. Brutus then began eating.
- September 23, 2024: Around 9:05 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen eating from the feeder while Lance watched from the back. When Brutus was finished eating, she left the feeder, and watched from the shadows as Lance ate. When Lance was finished and left, Brutus reentered the feeder.
- September 24, 2024: Around 11:00 PM (LFT), Brutus was seen with both front paws in the empty bowl, making faces at the camera.
