Mack is a cat that appears at A Litter of Cats Who Love Each Other. Mack's name was chosen because it contains the letters MK; MK is the initials of Mystery Kitten, which is what Mack was called before he was named. As the nickname "Mystery Kitten" suggests, his parents are unknown. However, it is highly suspected he is a part of the Bob extended family due to his appearance and mannerisms. When he first started appearing at the feeder, he was an older kitten— older than the Boblets and Knightlings, but not yet grown. He has now almost grown into an adult cat. He was first sighted by the global community on August 1, 2024.
Behavior
When Mack first appeared at the feeder, he was an older kitten. It was clear he hadn't had much experience with the feeders before his appearance at Bob's, as the first couple times food was dropped, he got scared and ran out before coming back in. However, he quickly got used to this and soon became a frequent visitor to the feeder.
Mack is a pretty well-rounded cat. He hangs out by himself frequently, but is just as likely to be seen with other cats such as Bob's children Bill and Brutus. His ability to form a friendship with the Boblets is notable; longtime feeder visitors and probable Boblet cousins the Knightlings did not become friends with them, despite them (especially Dan) attempting to do so. He has also been seen with some of the adult cats, such as Bob and Serif. He has never been seen being hostile toward any cats.
When he's alone, Mack enjoys sleeping and hanging out in the feeder. He can sometimes be seen making very funny faces. At first, he happily ate both kinds of food, but soon developed a taste for snacks, and can lately be seen waiting in front of bowls filled with kibble for snacks.
Appearance
Mack's appearance is markedly different from the other orange cats that visit this feeder. By far the quickest way to tell him apart from the other cats is by looking at his back pattern. While the other orange cats at this feeder have a fully or almost fully orange back , Mack's back has white spotting throughout. The orange spotting on his back forms a very rough ring shape. The top of his head is orange, and the orange extends down his face, stopping at the bottom of his eyes. He has two bold, roughly oval-shaped orange patches on his face: one right under his left eye, and one on the right side of his nose. His chest, legs, paws and underside are fully white. His tail is orange.
Sightings
August 2024
- August 1, 2024: Around 11:20 AM (LFT), Mack was sighted for the first time. He was eating some kibble from the bowl. At one point, he paused and stared very hard into the camera for several seconds. When he was finished eating, he sat up and looked around some before leaving.
- August 2, 2024: Around 12:50 PM (LFT), Mack entered the feeder and began eating some kibble. When kibble was dropped, he got scared and ran out, but came right back in.
- August 5, 2024: Around 7:00 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sitting in front of the bowl, looking outside. He then ate some kibble.
- August 7, 2024: Around 5:05 AM (LFT), Mack was seen hanging out at the feeder with Lance. Just outside the feeder, there was a big, white vinyl bag; Mack crawled fully into the bag while Lance watched, then crawled back out a few seconds later.
- August 11, 2024: Around 6:45 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl.
- August 14, 2024: Around 7:00 PM (LFT), Mack was seen standing outside the feeder while Brutus was eating. When Brutus left the feeder, she hissed loudly at Mack on her way out, causing him to recoil. He was not scared away, though, and he entered to eat as soon as she ran off.
- August 17, 2024: Around 7:20 AM (LFT), Mack was seen eating chicken snacks while Brutus watched him. Brutus sniffed him curiously while he ate, and he looked back at her, but no incident took place this time.
- August 18, 2024: Around 5:20 AM (LFT), Mack was seen eating kibble and snacks while Brutus again watched him from outside.
- August 23, 2024: Around 12:50 AM (LFT), Mack was seen eating kibble while Bill hung out outside.
September 2024
- September 7, 2024: Around 4:01 AM (LFT), Mack was seen eating kibble. Around 4:05, Serif showed up, and Mack got scared and retreated to the inside wall of the feeder.
- September 9, 2024: At 9:07 PM (LFT), Mack was seen hanging out outside the feeder while Lance tried to crawl in one of the cracks in the ground. A couple of minutes later, Mack entered the feeder and began eating kibble. When snacks were dropped, he excitedly ate those as well.
- September 11, 2024: Around 7:35 PM (LFT), Mack was seen staring at the kibble in the bowl. A minute later, someone jumped onto the roof, which startled him greatly.
- September 12, 2024: Around 6:50 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sitting along the back wall of the feeder while Bob Jr. ate. When Bob Jr. left the feeder and sat outside, Mack began eating.
- September 13, 2024: At 5:57 AM (LFT), Mack was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl.
- September 15, 2024: Around 8:35 PM (LFT), Mack was seen laying along the back of the feeder while Bill sat in front of the bowl. When kibble was dropped, they both looked up and went toward the bowl, but Mack let Bill eat first.
- September 16, 2024: At 9:00 AM (LFT), Mack entered the feeder and ate some kibble. He then crawled into the crack in the ground. At 9:36, he reappeared, pawed at the camera, then left.
- September 18, 2024: At 10:46 AM (LFT), Mack was seen sniffing around the bowl then eating kibble.
- September 20, 2024: Around 10:00 PM (LFT), Mack was seen reaching into the bowl with his paw. A few minutes later, he was seen laying outside while Bob Jr. ate.
- September 21, 2024: Around 10:25 PM (LFT), Mack was seen eating from the feeder while Dan sat outside and watched.
- September 22, 2024: At 5:52 AM (LFT), Mack was seen reaching into the bowl and pawing at the camera. He then sat down in front of the empty bowl. After a couple minutes, he laid down and went to sleep.
- September 25, 2024: Around 9:00 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sitting in front of the bowl while Bill sat toward the back of the feeder. Mack pawed at something in the feeder, then sat back up and hung out by Bill.
- September 26, 2024: Around 7:00 PM (LFT), Mack walked up to the feeder and looked inside the bowl while Bill and Bob Jr. were sleeping.
- September 27, 2024: Around 6:20 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sitting in front of the bowl. He soon began eating the kibble that was in the bowl. While he ate, Brutus walked in and started bothering him, but he paid her no mind.
- September 28, 2024: Around 9:00 PM (LFT), Mack entered the feeder and looked at the bowl while Bill was laying along the back of the feeder. Mack then laid down next to Bill, and they relaxed together.
- September 29, 2024: At 7:13 PM (LFT), Mack entered the feeder and began eating while Bill sat along the back wall of the feeder and Brutus sat outside. Brutus crawled into the crack in the ground; Mack then followed her into the crack while Bill watched. Mack then emerged from the crack and waited at the bowl for snacks as Dan appeared.
- September 30, 2024: Around 7:35 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sitting in front of the kibble-filled bowl, waiting for snacks.
October 2024
- October 2, 2024: Around 6:45 PM (LFT), shortly after Bill left, Mack was seen laying in front of the empty bowl.
- October 3, 2024: At 7:56 AM (LFT), Mack stuck his head out from behind the feeder and watched Vegeta eat.
- October 4, 2024: Around 4:15 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sleeping in front of the empty bowl.
- October 7, 2024:
- Around 4:45 AM (LFT), Mack was seen eating from the feeder while Bill stood behind him and Brutus laid just outside the feeder.
- Around 6:00 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sitting in front of the empty bowl while Bill sat right beside him. They hung out together for a while, and when food was dropped, they both ate. Bill soon left the feeder and hung out just outside. A few minutes later, Brutus entered the feeder while Mack was eating. When Mack was done, she slowly walked around him and started eating from the feeder while he still laid in front of it. He did not mind this.
- October 9, 2024: Around 6:05 PM (LFT), Mack was seen munching on some kibble. When more kibble was dropped, he made a very Bob-like face.
- October 10, 2024: Around 12:15 AM (LFT), Mack was seen relaxing in front of the bowl. A few minutes later, Bill entered the feeder and started looking around. Mack then sat up, making an exasperated face, while Bill played around him with a leaf. Mack then left the feeder and laid down right outside. He watched as Bill played with a large piece of bone. After a while, Mack reentered the feeder, looked in the bowl, then exited by crawling between the feeder and the black tarp along the inside wall.
- October 11, 2024:
- Around 12:45 AM (LFT), Mack was seen sleeping inside the feeder. After a few minutes, he woke up, stretched, and left again by going through the black tarp.
- At 8:58 AM (LFT), Mack emerged from the bushes outside the feeder and sat down in front of the empty bowl. When no food was dropped, he laid down and fell asleep.
- October 12, 2024: Around 8:25 PM (LFT), Mack was seen sleeping inside the feeder. After a few minutes, Mack woke up and looked around some, then went back to sleep, resting his chin on the edge of the bowl.
- October 13, 2024: Around 3:40 AM (LFT), Mack was seen sleeping inside the feeder while Brutus dozed behind him. They were both woken up by the sound of kibble falling; Mack let Brutus eat first. Around 3:55, Mack was seen analyzing the trash that Bill just brought into the bowl, while Bill watched him, waiting for his opinion. Mack then laid down next to Bill, and they relaxed together. When kibble was dropped, Mack let Bill eat first.
