Egbert is a Calico cat that appears at A Litter of Cats Who Love Each Other. Her name was chosen because it sounded silly. Her parentage is unknown, but her appearance suggests she is one of many members of the Bob extended family. She quickly became a common visitor after being sighted for the first time on November 2, 2024.
Behavior
Egbert shares many behaviors with the cats that visit this feeder. She stops very frequently to look outside when she eats. At first, she ate both snacks and kibble, but she quickly developed a taste for chicken snacks. She often leaves both kibble and snacks in the bowl when she leaves the feeder.
Egbert gets startled easily by the feeder. She will often jump back when the feeder starts dropping food. However, she's not usually scared away by the feeder, and will begin eating a couple of seconds later.
Appearance
Egbert is one of two Calico cats that visit the feeder (the other is Vegeta). Compared to Vegeta, Egbert has much more white spotting. Her face is almost entirely white, with the exception of a small black blotch near her mouth. Her nose is black. The top of her head has an even mix of orange and black spotting. Her back has several large, distinct patches of orange and brown spotting. Her chest, underside and legs are all white. Her tail is a mix of black, orange and white.
Sightings
November 2024
- November 2, 2024:
- At 12:14 PM, Egbert was spotted for the first time. Kibble was dropped for her, which startled her and sent her recoiling toward the back of the feeder. After taking a few seconds to gather herself, she began eating the kibble.
- Around 10:10 PM (LFT), Egbert was seen eating kibble. When more kibble was dropped, she was again startled and looked outside for a few seconds before eating. She left shortly after.
- November 3, 2024:
- At 12:00 AM (LFT), Egbert was seen eating kibble. Snacks were dropped for her, which caused her to recoil, but she began eating a few seconds later. Around 12:03, kibble was dropped, and she got so startled she ran out of the feeder and into the bushes nearby. She hung out here for about a minute before slowly reentering the feeder and eating the dropped food. She left for good around 12:10.
- At 11:02 AM (LFT), Egbert was seen eating the last little bit of food that was left in the bowl. She then walked out. A few seconds after she left, snacks were dropped, and she reentered to eat. While she ate, kibble was dropped, which startled her so much she slammed into the ceiling of the feeder as she recoiled (she was fine). After recuperating, she began to eat, looking outside frequently while doing so.
