The Ancient Beast
The Ancient Beast is a visitor at the Kitty Corner feeder. While it is quite possible he showed up before the feeder began undergoing documentation in the English community, he has only began showing up (again?) recently. He is often referred to as 'TAB' for short.
Behavior
The Ancient Beast is usually alone on his sightings. He often stays at the feeder for ten minutes or more, and most of that time is spent in idle, sitting upright at the feeder doing absolutely nothing (similarly to Brother Calm). His intimidating and otherworldly presence is seemingly picked up on by other cats, as they tend to give him space or run away entirely despite him not actually becoming aggressive towards them. Although his age is unknown, he gives off the general impression that he is wise with years of experience. He usually shows up in the middle of the night or early morning.
Appearance
The Ancient Beast is a rather standard looking brown tabby. His belly and lower face are a lighter shade of brown. He is slightly larger than the average cat, similar in size to Mr. Hopper. He is also quite (extremely) fat, with a prominent sagging belly, which has gotten bigger since his first sighting in September. It is unclear if he has gotten fatter, or just gone through cat puberty. His eyes are a dull green.
Sightings
September 2024
- September 11, 2024: Around 3:30 AM (LFT), The Ancient Beast made his first documented visit to the feeder. He sat still for a while, glaring at the feeder until it finally relented and fed him. He ate ravenously, truly living up to his title as a 'Beast'. He sat down about five minutes later and loafed in front of the bowl. He finally got up and left at 3:47 AM (LFT).
- September 17 2024: At 9:08 AM (LFT), The Ancient Beast showed his face yet again. This time he spent most of his time eating, which he did so quite well. He left a few minutes later.
October 2024
- October 2, 2024: In the morning, 9:32 AM (LFT), TAB made an appearance at Kitty Corner. He ate the feeder for a bit, lingered there like usual, before leaving.
- October 4, 2024: At 7:53 AM (LFT), The Ancient Beast was caught staring into the distance at the feeder. When an smaller orange cat approached, TAB simply stared at it. Feeling intimated by this mighty beast, the other cat ran off. Despite more food being donated by watchers, TAB did not eat. He continued this ritual until leaving at 8:08 AM.
- October 5, 2024: At 9:18 AM (LFT), TAB briefly made an appearance at the feeder. He took a few bites in between checking his surroundings, then left.
- October 21, 2024: At 11:14 PM (LFT), The Ancient Beast took claim over the feeder. He ate for a while, and then began his ritual of staring at the bowl really hard and dozing off. 11 minutes later, Mama Goose showed up and TAB allowed her to eat. He sat to the side with two oranges cats as she ate, and when she left and an orange tabby replaced her, he was still there. At 11:37 PM (LFT), The Ancient Beast finally left, bidding his compatriots farewell.
- October 31, 2024: At 5:24 AM (LFT), TAB came to the feeder. He began his usual routine; sitting in front of the feeder until he is fed. He took the time to clean himself. He was still at the feeder at 5:55 AM, but did eventually leave sometime later.
December 2024
- December 19, 2024: Sometime around 3:35 PM (LFT), TAB arrived at the feeder. He picked at the stray kibble that had been left by other cats, before resuming his usual behavior of staring at the camera and begging for food. It doesn't seem like he got it, though, because he left around 3:40 PM. He came back just 5 minutes later, still here to beg. At 3:59 PM (over 20 minutes since he first arrived), The Ancient Beast finally received food, and ate ravenously, for almost ten whole minutes. Even after all that, he still was not satisfied, for he sat down again and waited to be fed. Eventually, around 4:10 PM, he left the feeder.
- December 20, 2024: At 1:57 AM (LFT), The Ancient Beast came to the feeder once more. He ate for quite a bit, and was fed a few times. He left sometime later.
(Not every cat sighting is documented.)
