Mr. Paw is an orange tabby that appears at Huanzi Animal Rescue Base. He is named Mr. Paw because he only eats kibble he pushed out of the feeder with his paw, and because he is sometimes seen eating kibble from his paw. Appearance-wise, he is almost identical to The Guardian, and as such were previously considered the same cat. They are so similar looking that it was only suspected they were two different cats after noticing their wildly different eating behaviors at the feeder.
Behavior
Mr. Paw acts vastly different from The Guardian at the feeder. Mr. Paw only eats one piece of kibble at a time. If the bowl is almost empty, with individual pieces separated from each other, he will eat straight from the bowl; otherwise, he will push some kibble out of the bowl with his paw and eat the kibble pieces one at a time off the floor. Even though this slows down his pace a lot, Mr. Paw is usually determined to eat his fill; he can be seen eating kibble, one piece at a time, for up to 20 minutes.
Mr. Paw doesn't mind cats watching him, but he doesn't like when cats try to eat with him in the feeder. When cats start eating from the bowl while he's eating, he will leave the feeder. Besides eating, Mr. Paw likes to sit at the back of the feeder and watch other cats eat.
Appearance
Mr. Paw looks almost identical to The Guardian. However, there are some small visual tells that identify Mr. Paw. His right ear is noticeably clipped, showing that he has undergone TNR; The Guardian's right ear is not clipped. In addition, the stripes on the end of his tail are different from The Guardian's. Mr. Paw is an almost solid orange tabby; the only patch of white he has is around his mouth. Depending on the lighting, his tabby stripes can be somewhat faint, but they are always visible on his legs. Mr. Paw is about an average size and weight, although he looks a little fluffy from certain angles.
Sightings
July 2024
- July 14, 2024: At 7:10 PM (LFT), Mr. Paw entered the feeder and watched an unnamed, mostly white tabby eat. At 7:14, the tabby left the feeder, and Mr. Paw began to eat while Mrs. Kind watched from outside.
- July 15, 2024: At 10:13 AM (LFT), Mr. Paw was seen eating while Cousin Chill and Cool Whip laid outside. A minute later, a gray cat came and watched Mr. Paw eat. At 10:15, when the gray cat tried to eat alongside Mr. Paw, Mr. Paw left the feeder.
- July 16, 2024: At 9:00 AM (LFT), Mr. Paw was seen sitting in the feeder with Cousin Chill. When Cousin Chill left a minute later, Mr. Paw began pulling pieces of kibble out of the feeder with his hands and eating them on the floor. At 9:42 AM (LFT), Mr. Paw reentered the feeder and looked around. Kibble was dispensed for him, but he ignored it and left a minute later.
- July 19, 2024: At 11:25 PM (LFT), Mr. Paw was seen at the feeder. He was taking food out of the feeder, both with his mouth and with his hands, and eating the individual pieces of kibble off of the floor. He was seen eating individual pieces of kibble straight from the bowl, but only ones that were separated from the pile and by themselves on the bottom of the bowl. He did this for almost ten minutes, then left.
- July 21, 2024: At 9:26 AM (LFT), Mr. Paw, standing halfway out of the feeder, started eating from the bowl. He ate with his usual eating habits. At 9:30, another cat entered and started eating from the bowl, so Mr. Paw left.
- (Not every cat sighting is documented.)
